This yearlong weekly journey is designed to help you break free from what I call the porn prison - a state of mental, emotional, and spiritual confinement caused by porn consumption. This prison traps individuals in cycles of shame, isolation, and disconnection, making it difficult to live a life of purpose and fulfillment.

Each Friday for the full year of 2025, I’ll dive into a key aspect of recovery, provide practical tools, and challenge you to take meaningful steps toward lasting freedom. Whether you’re just starting your journey or already working toward healing, this series offers encouragement, clarity, and structure to help you build and sustain a new, liberated identity.

Hey team — I’m on the road today, but I didn’t want to leave you hanging.

Somewhere…in the mountains of Colorado…Porn Free Millennial writes these words…

For this week’s 52 Weeks of Freedom, I’ve lined up 3 powerful reads that each offer a unique lens on our relationship with porn and why breaking free from it matters more than ever.

Each piece is built to challenge, sharpen, and encourage you on the journey.

Let’s dive in 👇

  1. “NPC” - In this piece, I explore the eerie parallels between porn use and living like an NPC, a “non-playable character” just going through the motions. I’ve been there myself, stuck on autopilot, reacting to triggers instead of choosing my path. This article is a call to wake up, reclaim your agency, and stop living like a background character in your own story.

  2. “Siren Food” - In this article, I delve into how social media platforms amplify seductive imagery, drawing parallels to the mythological sirens who lured sailors to their doom. I reflect on how these digital sirens can captivate and consume our attention, leading us away from authentic connections and self-awareness. This piece challenges us to recognize these influences and reclaim our focus, steering our lives back toward intentionality and genuine fulfillment.

  3. “Reclaiming Masculinity” - In this piece, I confront how porn has eroded my understanding of what it means to be a man. It’s not just about the act of consuming porn itself, it’s about how it chips away at qualities like strength, integrity, and the ability to form real, lasting connections. I share my personal journey of recognizing these effects and the steps I’m taking to rebuild a healthier, more authentic sense of masculinity. This article is an invitation to reflect on our own experiences and consider how we can reclaim the virtues that define true manhood.

A frequent and pedestrian “insult” thrown my way is that I am a “prude” for speaking against porn consumption and against the exploitative industry.

Reclaiming Masculinity

I had a relationship with porn before I even had my first kiss with a girl in 8th grade. As I think about that now, I mourn the loss of my innocence. It’s heartbreaking to consider what children today, with their smartphones and constant access to social media, are exposed to at such a young age and how that will affect their development.

🔥 Weekend Challenge: Break the Script

Too many of us are living like NPCs → trapped in loops, reacting to cravings, seduced by screens, and slowly losing our sense of who we really are.

This weekend, your challenge is simple but not easy:

🧠 1. Name the Loop

Pick one behavior or thought pattern you’ve been doing on autopilot.

👉 Is it scrolling Instagram for “just a second”?

👉 Is it clicking “just one more” video?

👉 Is it going back to porn when you feel bored, lonely, or stressed?

Write it down. Give it a name. Exposing it is the first step to breaking the loop.

⚓ 2. Silence the Sirens

Pick one digital “siren” that hijacks your focus → maybe it’s TikTok, X, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube or Substack (sorry Substack).

Log out or delete the app for 48 hours.

Replace it with:

  • Reading one of the articles again

  • Journaling about what you really crave

  • Spending intentional time with someone you care about

The goal is to redirect attention from seduction to connection.

🛡️ 3. Reclaim Your Masculinity

Ask yourself:

“What would the strongest, most grounded version of me do this weekend?”

Then do that thing.

It could be:

  • Calling someone you’ve avoided

  • Getting outside and pushing your body

  • Making a plan to take your recovery more seriously

Honor the man you’re becoming → not the algorithm you're feeding.

🗣️ Final Step: Share Your Wins

Drop a comment or DM with:

  • The loop you named

  • What you’re doing to break it

  • Any shift you feel by Sunday night

You are not a background character.

You are the author of your story.

So take the pen back. ✍️

Partnership – Why I Recommend Ever Accountable

I don’t promote anything I wouldn’t personally use or trust with my own recovery.

That’s why I’ve partnered with Ever Accountable the accountability software I use myself and recommend.

Porn thrives in secrecy.

But recovery requires visibility and friction and that’s exactly what this software creates.

It’s not about shame.

It’s about support.

When you know someone else can see what you’re doing online, the decision to relapse gets interrupted.

You’re no longer isolated in the moment, you’re reminded that your actions matter, and someone has your back.

I often tell people:

“You don’t break free from porn prison alone. You break free from porn prison together.”

Tools like Ever Accountable make together possible, even if you’re physically walking this out solo.

💡 Why I Recommend It:

  • It adds friction. Temptation thrives in ease. This adds resistance.

  • It removes secrecy. When someone else can see your screen, the pull of relapse weakens.

  • It builds trust. With yourself and with others. No more hiding.

  • It fits into your life. Works on phones, tablets, laptops → whatever your daily environment includes.
