The amazing thing about sunsets are that they are completely free and accessible. God is putting on a majestic and wonderful show for us everyday. All we have to do is silently take it in and be still for a moment to receive its gift.

"Sit in stillness"

"There’s something sacred about letting the world slow down around you,"

You are on to something here, brother. It's Liberating and breathtaking at the same time. You reminded me of a book I read last month. Stillness Is The Key by Ryan Holiday. Holiday brings the wisdom of the ancient Stoics to our modern world. It is filled with nuggets like the quotes above from your post.

The same happens on the other side of the day. Just me, the aroma of a fresh brew wafting up from the cup in my hands, and the morning sun coming up with a wild array of colours in the sky. It is one of the best ways to start the day.

Excellent post Mac,

Beautiful pictures and thoughtful prose... nice.

Craig, appreciate you reading and engaging. I just started reading a Holiday book myself this month - Right Thing, Right Now - I love his mindset and how he’s carried the Stoic torch into modernity. The Stoic philosophy mixed in with my foundation as a Christian has been life-changing.

Focusing on the little things, the magic of the moments - is a daily practice of gratitude and a pocket of bliss in this world that can seem crazy and chaotic.

There’s power in this mindset and I’m happy you shared yours - that’s a phenomenal way to start the day!

Oh yeah, Daily gratitude can be a game changer.

Holiday's Stoic series is really good so far. They are all linked, and it seems they can be read in any order. Discipline is Destiny is on my re-read list, and Courage is Calling is on my to-read list. You are right about his mindset and how he brings the stoic knowledge and practices to our time—brilliant.

Years ago I was introduced to Stoicism by the book Stoicism by Conrad Miller. The sub title sold me, "How to be calm and centered in a manic world."
