Time is Precious, Enjoy it
Hey team, busy last few days for me. 3 different camping spots in 5 days and finally got my Jeep ready to tow behind the RV. A new chapter is unfolding with this ability to have another vehicle while I move to different spots around Colorado and I’m ecstatic for what the future holds.
As I write and reflect from the same camping spot at Boyd Lake State Park (Loveland, Colorado) that I booked two years ago on my maiden voyage with this new home and life ahead of me post-divorce, I can’t help but be grateful for each day I have. From being in a deep pit of depression to now writing/podcasting and working remotely at my pick of location, I am grateful for the opportunity to rise to the occasion and to reclaim my time, understanding that it is precious.
There’s been times leading up to the divorce and after where I just wanted to give up or give in. Times of questioning my purpose, questioning my place in this world. Having to claw back our sense of identity can be daunting, exhausting, and at times, can feel improbable. The fear of the unknown swallowing up the rays of hope and renewal. The storm of past decisions and regrets, raging jeers of self-pity and defeat howling in the mind.
I’ve been there many times.
But over time, I’ve found my footing.
I’ve reclaimed my confidence.
I’ve clawed it back and I’m not letting it go.
Now is the time for adventure.
Now is the time to smile and laugh.
Now is the time to become the Mac who I can trust and be proud of.
I think the same attitude that can be said for this inner battle of recovery and redemption can be said for reclaiming lost time.
Reclaiming the present moment.
Reclaiming the clarity of today.
Reclaiming integrity in my actions.
It adds up and the sum of the formula is a positive one.
As you go into this week:
Reclaim your time.
Reclaim your attention.
Reclaim your identity.
You are not a slave to your screen.
You are not a failure.
You are not a quitter.
This is your life.
Get it back.
And enjoy it.
Much Love,
Mac
Below are two pieces I wrote in 2023 & 2024 around this time of year. Hopefully they can help provide perspective on the importance of our time.
Missing the Moment
As I sat there
I didn’t want to share
that moment with you.
And as you pulled close
I was comatose
and didn’t notice you.
As your story was read
you were not in my head
and I didn’t listen to you.
Now when I sit down
I have a frown
knowing that you
were real.
Missing the Moment

Moments Made
My dad and I love basketball. We used to play hoops in the front yard almost every day when I was growing up.
He was also my coach for many years. One thing that always stuck with me was him saying “shoot to make it”.
Odds were, after hearing this mantra from my father, I would hit my next shot and start actually playing the game.
As I’ve grown older, this basketball themed mantra of “shoot to make it” became more of a theme for my life.
I think there’s a lot of moments in basketball and in life where we are just “throwing a shot up” and hoping it goes in.
How I interpreted his mantra — intention.
If you are going to take a shot, take a good one and take it to make it.
There’s been countless times in my life when I was just throwing up Hail Mary 3-pointers hoping that they went in and in those moments, my shot would be an airball.
Moments.
Missed.
Moments missed in my past marriage, moments missed to mature as a young man, moments missed to say goodbye, moments missed to make a good impression, moments missed to be more thankful, moments missed to be more humble, moments missed to be strong in the face of adversity, moments missed to know, moments missed to grow.
Moments of intimacy wasted, moments missing the sweet victories and how they tasted.
Make the most of your Moments.
There’s also been countless victories gained through devoted intention to the trajectory we have defined.
The moment of victory, falling in love. The moment of victory, satisfied in your hard-work. The moment of victory, smelling the roses. The moment of victory, defying the odds. The moment of victory, in your Lord’s arms. The moment of victory, feeling weightless. The moment of victory, heaven on earth.
In moments where a shot must be taken, which are many in life, we must thrive to have flowing intention that will cut a path through the arduous obstacles of our main opponent, time.
The only way to truly defeat time is by making our shots count, our moments that matter.
The more moments we “make”, the more we are playing this game the right way and we are ahead.
The more that we moments miss, the more we lose to the game. We get swept up in the game vs being in control of it.
As you ponder this musing, ask yourself.
Am I shooting to make it?
Make the most of your moments

👉 Guest Article: Jeanie Hosken’s latest article is a beautiful reminder that time isn’t just something we live through, it’s something we can feel and carry with us. She shares how a simple song took her back to a moment of pure freedom, and how we can anchor those kinds of memories in our lives and faith. It’s a perfect fit for this week’s theme: time is precious, and the more we savor the good moments, the more they stay with us.

How an Out-of-Body Experience with the Eagles Strengthed My Faith
I was sitting amidst a sea of grey-haired oldies at a concert in Peery’s Egyptian Theater when suddenly, I found myself flashing back to the driver’s seat of an orange VW hatchback, windows down, singing at the top of my lungs. My body might not have left my theater seat in Ogden, Utah, but my heart and mind were blasting down the road somewhere in Midd…

“Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to used during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course? Each of us has such a bank, it's name is time. Every morning, it credits you 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off at a lost, whatever of this you failed to invest to a good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against "tomorrow". You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and health. The clock is running. Make the most of today.” ― Marc Levy, If Only It Were True
