I think it is important to remember that you are not only removing yourself from porn on this journey but you are also moving forward into a holistically healthy life.
Why is it so natural for us to hold on to the pain, the shame, the guilt but not the victories and the gifts of recovery?
My theory is that it is part of the power of porn and it’s cyclical relationship with us.
When we are successful and when we are thriving, odds are that our life in front of us is the “screen” and we are living in the “scene” of our own lives which detaches us from the fake matrix of lust and endless fantasy.
When our eyes are focused on the present and what is tangibly meaningful, we move past what actually isn’t serving us.
Does porn actually serve us? Does it benefit us? What is its purpose?
For me, it’s been corrosive and radioactive.
Things that I built, destroyed.
Relationships that I developed, poisoned.
Future screenplays of my tale, scrapped and left to whither away.
As you read this, contemplate the question.
Does porn serve me? Is porn helping me? Is porn worth it?
For me, it isn’t worth it and I will tell you why.
