The Drug
A Poem
Her body
a drug,
curves taut
and snug,
an invitation
to rub that pain away,
an initiation
to forget the stressful day.
She shifts in form
with every swipe,
but the hypnotic rhythm
stays the same,
pixelating signals
massaging that captive brain.
The gravitational waves
crave for your eyes
and patiently wait
for their gaze,
the dancing siren’s tune,
a melody that bites
with sugary lips
and a sticky swoon.
The handheld device,
a preoccupation station
of vice
and honey,
full of charm
and ecstasy,
yet hiding something deadly
behind its pollinating plea.
A trap laid
throughout the ages,
but never quite
like this.
Vampiric algorithms
fueling the feast,
harvesting desires
that never cease.
Turning isolated,
restless souls
into products
by design,
feeding ancient appetites
la matching beat
like a rhyme.
The bait has changed,
but the hunger
is ingrained
in the sands
of time.
The siren still sings,
but now
within the screen.
Freedom rings
when her lure
is left unseen,
when the spell is broken
and the soul grows keen,
when silence drowns
the constant pings
that once ruled
everything.
Vampires starve
beneath the sun.
They cannot dwell
within the light.
The screen still calls
from the darkness,
but dawn belongs
to those
who choose
to fight.
Keep fighting the good fight.
