Her Poem
Tell me about your lover, is she much better than me?
Her curves are endless
Her figure never softens
And her eyes never leave.
She lines your bed
With her supple pixelated threads
Kissing you like throbbing lips, pulsating through your captive head.
But when she is done
with her song and dance,
Why do you look so tired when you come?
Why does it look like you’re hungover by her trance?
Was her invitation inside to house you in love
Or did she only make you come in to taste it?
Did you think our sacred walls have no ears
and who gave you the nerve to leave me
For this seductive scheme?
What made you think that this screen could
Replace me to receive your living seed?
Is she better than me?
Not at all.
Where was that man that vowed and prayed?
I’ll ask you as your other half,
Will you split or will you stay?
Will the man repent for the fall,
Or will the boy continue pleasure himself with his dolls?
I know that your pleasure is full of pain,
and that my vow too was the same.
So here’s the deal to the man I chose,
Seek to heal and move to grow.
Do not hide from me your mistakes,
Instead tell the truth and seek community
For goodness sake,
This is not to say that I do not feel the sting of your lies,
Or that I feel betrayed and that I will still cry.
But I know your heart and I married a man,
Who does love me and with all his shame has not ran.
So I will stay
I will carry on.
The choice is yours,
There can only be one.
This poem was written on my notepad on a flight from Denver to Charlotte last Sunday. The first line was given to me by a man named Bob who sat across and behind me on our flight, thanks for the inspiration and the great stories.
